Summary:Few urban interventions take the community and social actors into account, which is why it is important to consider for positive social change. To do so, it is necessary to recognize in what way social actors can be identified within a socially vulnerable group, and what networks are created in interaction. At a methodological level, this article undertakes a conceptual and theoretical review that allows for the identification of key elements to develop a proposal. As a result, an eight-step methodology was developed that seeks to obtain information, identify the profile and levels of power and influence, in order to map the level of influence and interaction to determine the role of the social actor. This allows for the tabulation and visual representation of characteristics and attributes to determine social relationships and cases of conflict, in order to select the social actors who will be included in the process of community planning. This contribution facilitates understanding of community dynamics in order to design a social activity or community project in a participatory and effective way.
