The research process was conducted through the historical hermeneutic method, which drew on experiential bibliography and through interviews whit people close to this place. El presente texto es el resultado del estudio de la Plaza de Nariño, en la ciudad de San Juan de Pasto, a partir de las valoraciones histórica, simbólica y estética de esa arquitectura con un alto valor patrimonial, que por diferentes circunstancias ha sufrido transformaciones que han vulnerado su esencia. El artículo pretende explicar y analizar el contexto y momento histórico desde su fundación hasta su última transformación en 1992. El proceso investigativo se realizó a través del método histórico hermenéutico, el cual se nutrió de elementos bibliográficos y vivenciales a través de entrevistas a personas allegadas a esta obra.
