It highlights the numinous character of the mental structure of the Spanish American patio house, established after the symbolic vertical connection between hearth and heaven as divine place. En este texto se presenta una descripción analítica del origen y los aspectos simbólicos más representativos de la casa colonial instaurada por los españoles en América durante el proceso de colonización del continente, basada en el tipo arquitectónico de los patios articuladores. Se destaca el carácter numinoso de la estructura mental de la casa patial hispanoamericana, establecido a partir de la conexión vertical simbólica entre el hogar y el cielo como lugar divino.
