His reality and his implications lead to thinking about the search of sustainable alternatives that bear the requirements of the today world in mind but without not knowing the fundamental and specific needs of the vulnerable communities. To know and to analyze the changes of the popular housing and his relation with the socioeconomic situation of the families that they live, they are the central point of the content. El presente artículo expone una reflexión sobre los antecedentes y las condiciones actuales de la vivienda en los proyectos de interés social en Colombia, donde los cambios de la arquitectura residencial desde la minimización de los espacios habitables inciden en la transformación en la manera de habitar de nuestra sociedad. Su realidad y sus implicaciones llevan a pensar en la búsqueda de alternativas que tengan en cuenta las exigencias del mundo de hoy pero sin desconocer las necesidades fundamentales y específicas de las comunidades vulnerables. Conocer y analizar los cambios de la vivienda popular y su relación con la situación socio-económica de las familias que la habitan, son el punto central del contenido.
