Summary:Five Brazilian states are represented by the articles published in this special issue of PARC on Building Information Modeling: Bahia, Goiania, Minas Gerais, Paraná and São Paulo. The associated results are from Ph.D. and MSc. research, from studies developed in conjunction with practice and academia and from practice. It can be noticed that BIM lack of knowledge in Brazil has been overcome and that companies (architectural design offices, engineering and industrial, and construction) are facing the challenge of implementing it in its processes.
