Shrnutí:The project for the University City of Tucuman in the Sierra de San Javier was the site of a laboratory of discussion on emerging issues in architecture and urban planning in Argentina after the Second World War. Technique and project methods were based around a pedagogical and urban initiative that aimed to materialize a university center for the northwest region of the country. An heterogeneous group of local and foreign experts were invited to build a concrete response to the challenge. Without dwelling on possible divergences between the different cultural visions within that group or in the possible political-economic conjunctural difficulties, the aim of this article is to analyze the conceptual basis of the project from certain axes –region, landscape and organicism– that helped ideas circulation, crossing discourses and practices of political, technical and cultural actors.
