Descripción
Summary:“Villa Miseria” (shanty town) and “villero” are designations that tend to simplify in mythical images multiple phenomena of a great complexity. The article is part of a more extensive work in which the author tried to unravel, to differentiate and to understand these innumerable realities to which those designations allude, as well as the historical processes of constitution of these myths. In this case the appearance of the first shanty towns and its settlers is studied by means of its cultural representations, from literature to the visual arts.
