The conservative governments used the cinema and other media to encourage these possibilities, to spread the benefices of national tourism and to reveal the different areas in the country. Thus, the documentary cinema, besides promoting these places, was used as a tool for official propaganda. The State, through the Cinematographic Institute, submitted a programme which included the filming of regional tourist attractions. One of these productions was the short film Mar del Plata. Our great Sea City, which is the object of analysis in this paper. The images presented in the documentary film will allow us to understand how the cinema, according to the conservative conception, was able to influence the audience and make the golden dream of holidays in Mar del Plata come true.
