This technological development modified mentalities and traditions which had been virtually unaltered during centuries. Although most urban ideas associated with darkness remained, social patterns changed supported by a new modern city, illuminated with new equipments and devises, all of which created a new way of perceiving the night. A partir de una aproximación a la vida cotidiana nocturna en la Ciudad de Méxicode fines del siglo xix, se identifican aquellos elementos que se vieron modificadoscon la llegada de la electricidad. Este avance tecnológico modificó las mentalidadesde la población y los usos y costumbres que se habían mantenido inalterados porsiglos.
