Zusammenfassung:Alongside the well-established European concept of Compact City, there is a very different model that has guided the development of most North American cities. The authors call this model the Landscape City and they argue that it is deeply rooted in America’s history and specifically in its attitudes towards Nature, from pre-Columbian times to lead thinkers of the twentieth century. The study and understanding of these two models is crucial for the urban regeneration of Americancities in the 21st century.
