Through knowledge of the natural lighting resource, the architectural object could be affected from the design process in order to achieve the benefits associated with its good use. A glimpse of important aspects and regulation in this area provides an understanding of where we are standing in the acknowledgment and interest advocated to natural lighting in the architectural discipline. La importancia de la luz natural en la arquitectura incita a entender cómo se presenta, comporta y analiza; asimismo, implica entender la forma en la cual, a través del conocimiento del recurso lumínico natural, es posible afectar al objeto arquitectónico desde el proceso de su diseño en cuanto a los beneficios asociados a un buen aprovechamiento del recurso. Un breve vistazo sobre los aspectosrelevantes, así como sobre la reglamentación en la materia, permiten hacer una valoración de dónde estamos situados frente al reconocimiento e interés que se le destina a la luz natural en la disciplina arquitectónica.
