In this paper we review some of the formal innovations made by Spanish technicians over this period, arising from expressive and structural possibilities of reinforced concrete. Aunque hoy las condicionantes técnicas y constructivas han dejado de ser factores determinantes para el desarrollo de casi cualquier planteamiento formal arquitectónico, durante los siglos XIX y XX la concepción de nuevas formas arquitectónicas estuvo íntimamente ligada a la aparición de nuevos materiales y sistemas estructurales.
