En la historia de la arquitectura moderna de la segunda mitad del siglo xx en la zona metropolitana del Valle de México, tal vez no exista, fuera del Pedregal y Satélite, otro lugar en su tipo que reúna una serie de rasgos propios de la época como Tecamachalco. Sin embargo, a diferencia de estos ejemplos, Tecamachalco no se promocionó a sí misma como paradigmática, ni buscó persuadir a sus futuros habitantes, pues estuvo estratégicamente ubicada y comercializó un estilo de vida aceptado. Su desarrollo evidencia la aclimatación de la arquitectura moderna y el surgimiento del popular moderno. En este escenario las casas de Boris Albin jugaron un papel relevante.
