Summary:This text offers a new look at the concept of the sponge city, which seeks to mitigate the water crises and exponential warming of many megacities. It examines two zones of Mexico City, analyzing the parameters of this concept with the goal of generating knowledge that can orient debates on the post-pandemic city, especially regarding the need for a conceptual renegotiation of the complex and conflicted link between the city and nature. This study emphasizes the importance of soil for urban-architectonic planning while promoting blue and green infrastructure in dense urban landscapes.
