總結:The objective of the article is to explain and analyze the necessary symbiotic relationship between the conservation of historic architecture and preservation of intangible cultural heritage. The case study selected for this research is the set of zones of cultural heritage of the city of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. The paper includes the theoretical, historical and regulatory frameworks that highlight the characteristics of intangible cultural heritage, the development of the city and the laws and regulations in historic architecture. An important aspect is the identification of popular catholic piety as representative cultural manifestation of the studied areas. The article analyzes each of the areas of cultural heritage to show how historic architecture favors traditions survive while the intangible manifestations strengthen the conservation of buildings in which they occur.Keywords: Historic architecture, intangible Cultural Heritage, Mérida, México, popular piety.
