總結:At the national level, is it possible to make use of a generalist term and concept that characterize and define any housing produced by and for the low-income population in Brazil? In order to answer this question, this article presents the results of analyzes developed in the official documents referring to the National Housing Policy, instituted in the country in 1946. The objective was to identify terms and concepts used by the Federal Government to characterize and define the housing of the low-income population in the country. The historical path elucidated here showed that the terms “Popular Housing” and “Social Interest Housing” were the most cited in official national documents. However, despite the similarities, the terms have different concepts, which have been reformulated over the years in order to adapt to the interests of the National Housing Policy and the country's socioeconomic situation.
