Crynodeb: | This paper analyses the visual products that strengthened the image of Chile as a tourist destination between 1933 and 1973. Although their ultimate objective was to promote travel in the territory, what they actually achieved was to strengthen the country ́s position as a young nation. Through a mainly iconographic analysis based on the images in tou- rist publications edited by Ferrocarriles del Estado (State Railways), En viaje (Travelling) and Guía del veraneante (Summer Vacationer ́s Guide), the text attempts to address the tourist country image built by such documents. |
