Description
Résumé:The Concepción Central Market (CCM) is a culturally significant space, a reference for local identity, architecture, gastronomy and craftsmanship. Various traditional downtown Concepción activities were carried out there, and its significance for individuals connected with the place is unknown. The aim of this study was to analyze the CCM based on the different meanings assigned it by the related actors in order to contribute to the understanding of this space and produce knowledge for its heritage recovery. The methodology employed was qualitative in nature with a descriptive approach; specifically, the discourse of the subjects interviewed was analyzed. One of the most relevant conclusions of this study was to establish that the CCM heritage property housed a practice that currently does not exist, thus revealing that the use is the most important aspect of this place. The preservation of this activity should be considered in the future recovery of the building.
