La receptividad de las jóvenes y cosmopolitas sociedades permitió que diversos arquitectos desarrollaran edificios especialmente para el norte, primero con un racionalismo ortodoxo, pero luego explorando resoluciones que integraron el clima y la topografía del desierto, creando un singular laboratorio de modernidad.
