Sumario:This work has the purpose to contribute arguments to the hypothesis by which is considered that the housing problem has urban dimensions, whose variables do not form part of the frequent housing politic and if they were it they would permit to improve the housing conditions of extensive residential areas of the city. From the analysis of a case, in this article some methodological guidelines are practiced to tackle these dimensions and for understand the way in which determined urban questions impact in a direct way in the housing situations. In the last part they are put to consideration some methodological proposals to improve the housing politics in force that ignore these dimensions of the problem and some axes of action are exposed.
