Crynodeb:Discussion in this article is lead by comparative analysis of housing policies. An effort is made to synthetize some results of a larger and broader scope´s investigation whose main focus was the need to analyze public housing policies implemented by two countries of this region, i.e. : Chile and Argentina. The investigation was conducted at the same time on the effects of hege-monic processes on policies that were at the front stage in international scenarios during the last quarter of the XXth century. Reaches and achievements of the enabling approach that was characteristic of housing policies during the nineties are dis-cussed. Ten conclussions resulting from analysis of housing policies of both countries are presented. Finally, a summary is offered on the inroads followed by both countries at the begining of the new century Changes on State involvement and new interventional strategies are underlined.
