Miêu tả
Tóm tắt:From a commercial perspective, gentrification —understood as a class and social restructuration process— can be observed as a procedure in which commercial activity is focused on high-income groups, the result being the substitution of this kind of activity in terms of the participation of traders and the supply of products —a situation that is clearly identified in municipal markets. In this way, there is a dissemination of a market-oriented “model” which, apart from meeting the food requirements of a given neighborhood, creates leisure areas. Such a transformation was preceded by a discourse that uses the deterioration of amenities and the decline of commercial activity as an excuse to transform the market. This paper offers two case studies. The San Anton market, which is an old commercial space that was transformed into a space focused on the provision of gourmet and restoration services. The second case refers to the Los Mostenses market, which through a discourse of deterioration and decline has been transformed into a leisure space.
