Zusammenfassung:From the recently published Spanish travel book of Charles Garnier (1868), we propose to develop in this article Carmen’s architecture in a double sense. First, through the architecture that builds the romantic myth of a “España de pandereta” represented by the drama of the cigar maker of Seville. In parallel, we will cover the architectural facet of that myth from the privileged view of the famous architect of the Paris Opera house and its focus on Spanish architecture and cities of the mid-19th century.
