Description
Summary:This article presents the initial steps of a research that aims to examine the cartographies produced for the city of São Paulo, from a historical perspective, for which we have selected some key pieces: the maps of the late nineteenth century, and the surveys SARA Brazil from 1930, VASP/ Cruzeiro from 1954, and GEGRAN from 1973. It is about understanding, at different times, how the edges of the city are seen from those maps and, more specifically, identifying the relationship between physical occupation, legal boundaries and the dimensions of the urban phenomenon.
