Sumario:The tensions between the existing city and the proposed city show different ways of thinking this territory. We propose a comprehensive characterization of three plans of the metropolitan edge of Buenos Aires: Plan Regulador (1958-1962), El Conurbano Bonaerense (1995) and Lineamientos de Borde (2010). To achieve this objective we examine these three urbanistic documents that occur in three different moments. The proposal is based on the differences that are at the begining of the plans. The work presents a topological look on these plans which show three types of metropolitan edges: space of urban rural interrelation; space of heterogeneous uses and space that cannot be apprehended from a unitary perspective.
