Résumé:The great transformation that took place in the city of Lisbon as part of its expansion in the 20th century, determinant in its characterization, was marked by the influence of the pioneering proposals of Ruy Atouguia, who designs, for the first time in Portugal, through a structure of neoplastic nature to order the physical reality. The purpose of this article is, through the analyses of his work, to identify the bases of subsequent influence of this performance heir of the Athens Charter, but able to accomplish under a filter view of cultural and local contexts. The aim is also to evaluate the reasons for any bleaching of this author until the moment it is recognized the ethic and aesthetic commitment that his work shares with Eduardo Souto de Moura’s, one of the most influential Portuguese in the international contemporary architecture scene.
