This article aims to highlight one of these diagrammatic instruments, namely, notations for the analysis and design of architecture, due to its ability to work with the temporal dimension. It will analyze the notational systems elaborated by Philip Thiel in the mid-1950s and Bernard Tschumi in the late 1970s. These two different proposals for architectural notation, the first one focused on phenomenological questions and the second one on programmatic themes, sought to improve the traditional mechanisms for architectural representation. When introducing the variables of time and experience in the processes of analysis and design of architecture, the notations focus their attention on the dialogue that is established between the act of looking and the physical experience of the user in motion with the architectural space, while leaving out more formal issues.Keywords: diagram, notation, architectural experience, Philip Thiel, Bernard Tschumi. En las últimas décadas, el diagrama ha emergido como uno de los principales temas del debate arquitectónico, convirtiéndose en un término maleable que ha adoptado un sinfín de significados y promovido nuevas maneras de hacer arquitectura. Este artículo pretende poner en relieve uno de estos instrumentos diagramáticos, en concreto, las notaciones para el análisis y diseño de la arquitectura por su capacidad de poder trabajar con la dimensión temporal. Para ello, se analizan los sistemas notacionales elaborados por Philip Thiel, a mediados de los años cincuenta, y Bernard Tschumi, a finales de los años setenta. Dos diferentes propuestas de notación arquitectónica, la primera centrada en cuestiones fenomenológicas y la segunda en temas programáticos, que pretendieron mejorar los tradicionales mecanismos de representación arquitectónica. Al introducir las variables de tiempo y experiencia en los procesos de análisis y diseño de la arquitectura, las notaciones ponen el foco de atención en el diálogo que establecen la mirada y el cuerpo en movimiento del usuario con el espacio arquitectónico, dejando en un segundo plano las cuestiones de índole formal.Palabras clave: diagrama, notación, experiencia arquitectónica, Philip Thiel, Bernard Tschumi.
