On the other hand, the theoretical propositions of Eduard Franz Sekler and Kenneth Frampton, as well as Heinrich Wölfflin and Harry Mallgrave, concerning tectonics, are the foundations for this investigation, which has the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM-Rio) as its object of analysis. This analysis has the structure-form as a design principle and unfolds through the following categories: form imposition, structural legibility and structural materiality. Such characteristics synthesize the desired transdisciplinarity, making it possible to observe the different tectonic expressions that are manifested in the building, apart from the construction processes and the load paths, even achieving an empathic expression that not only allows to re-signify a certain understanding about MAM-Rio but, above all, the very notion of tectonic expression. O propósito deste artigo é promover a discussão, a partir de uma abordagem transdisciplinar, sobre diferentes modos de expressão tectônica que podem se manifestar em certas edificações — abordagem representada pela interpolação de conceitos relacionados à Arquitetura e à Engenharia Estrutural que possibilitou a caracterização de um conceito próprio: forma-estrutura, contribuindo também para a definição de um conjunto de categorias analíticas. Por sua vez, as proposições teóricas de Eduard Franz Sekler e Kenneth Frampton, bem como de Heinrich Wölfflin e Harry Mallgrave, no campo da tectônica, embasam esta investigação, que tem como objeto de análise o Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro (MAM-Rio). Para tanto, essa análise assume a forma-estrutura como um princípio projetual e se desdobra por meio das seguintes categorias: imposição da forma, legibilidade estrutural e materialidade estrutural. Tais categorias sintetizam a transdisciplinaridade desejada, tornando possível observar as diferentes expressões tectônicas que se manifestam no edifício para além dos processos construtivos e do caminho de cargas chegando, no limite, a configurar uma expressão empática que, consequentemente, permite não só ressignificar certa compreensão do MAM-Rio, mas sobretudo da própria noção de expressão tectônica.
