This article analyzes these processes at the local level, to study the industrial building in the colo- ny, between 1900 and 1930. Through the study of three representative cases, it is presented the char- acteristics of the factories that were established in this area in the period studied and the difficul- ties had to be included into a residential context. A finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, la ciu- dad de México experimentó grandes cambios, tales como la expansión de la mancha urbana — con la creación de colonias como Santa María la Ribera —, y el rápido desarrollo industrial, que además de requerir espacios, modificó la dinámica social y el paisaje urbano. El siguiente artículo analiza estos procesos a nivel local, al estudiar la industria en la colonia que nos ocupa, entre 1900 y 1930. A través del estudio de tres casos representativos se expo- nen las características de las fábricas que se estab- lecieron en este barrio en el periodo estudiado y las dificultades que tuvieron al estar inmersas dentro de un contexto residencial.
