The use of three-dimensional models is an old practice in architecture. They aim toreport concepts that must be implemented by the design and the buildings. These models tryto convey ideas and values, while communicate the intentions of the project, especially for usersor people who have decision-making power on the implementation of the buildings. This paperpresents a proposal for a three-dimensional simulation prototype, seeking to apply housingprojects simulations and evaluate the subjective dimension of human behavior in relation tohousing. This prototype differs from the traditional architectural model by using data loggingand delimitation of minimum standards for the use of environments. The article reports theimplementation of a pilot study that aims to identify the subjective demands of residentialusers, with special attention to the elderly users. Thus, the prototype of the present study wasdeveloped with the goal of being the most didactic possible for this population. These simulationswere applied to a group of users, individually, following a script of questions addressed duringthe procedure. The data collected in the research identified the limitations and advantages ofusing the prototype in communication process between the users and the designer, identifyingthe potential of the instrument as a process aid of assessment of the design. At the same time itwas possible to understand the values, ideals and way of understanding the problem for users, and help in the review of procedures for future research on prototypes. |
