Riassunto: | This paper discusses the City Information Modeling (CIM) paradigm from awide approach, considering the theoretical and conceptual bias on those and other relatedterms. The CIM has been pointed by some authors as an extension of the BIM concept for theurban space. However, considering the characteristics of the city comparing to an isolatedbuilding and the profusion of concepts in use, some issues need a more deep discussion. These concepts are closely related and have some overlap (that is why sometimes theyare misunderstood). Thus, we intended to broaden the discussion to clarify the conceptand terminology, and contribute to their use, in addition to improving the development ofapplications and technologies for planning, management and monitoring the cities. We haveno intention of exhausting the theme, due the vastness of issues involved and the reducedspace for discussion, but mainly because these issues are still “open”, promoting discussionand controversy. |
