This project set in motion a rapid process of increased real estate values, causing the substitution on the poorest group of residents by a higher income social group, in addition to causing a growing process of “ verticalization” in construction. These changes also lead to questions of property ownership, showing that the ways of acess to urban land are an important factor for retention or expulsion of the resident social groups in a certain area, when this area increases in value Contribuição para a análise das relações espaço urbano-população a partir do estudo de um caso de intervenção estatal com a implantação de projeto de reurbanização - o Projeto CURA - numa área do municfpio de São Paulo. Tal projeto desencadeou rápido processo de valorização imobiliária provocando a substituição da parcela mais pobre dos moradores por um grupo social de renda mais elevada, além de induzir um crescente processo de verticalização. Tais mudanças remeteram, também, à questão da propriedade imobiliária mostrando que as modalidades de acesso à terra urbana são um importante fator de retenção ou expulsão dos grupos sociais residentes em determinada área, quando esta se valoriza Universidade de São Paulo.
