| Sammanfattning: | This article presents the results of the application of a descriptive theory of the urban space, as proposed by Bill Hillier and colleagues (1984), to study two Brazilian cities: Porto Alegre and Recife. The concepts of the theory of the Social Logic o f Space (Hillier & Hanson, 1984), and its associated methods, are adopted to analyse the morphology of the central area of the two cities and its patterns of social use of the urban space.
