| Sumari: | Historically, the city has played an important role in the structuring of human life in society, arousing interest in unveiling the agents of the interventions on the territory and the methods of population settlement and transformation of the space. In order to guide researchers interested in this subject, this paper aims to discuss some of the approaches used to characterize the urban environment and point out aspects considered essential to study the process of cities formation. Our focus is directed primarily to the Brazilian territory, seeking examples mainly in Minas Gerais. |
