First, the different phases of organization of that market are presented, considering the formation process of the metropolitan set. Then, the legal and ilegal uses of the land, and the capitalist production of the city are put side by side, to show the logical organization of the land market as responsible for the growth of the irregular settlements in the city. Finally, it demonstrates that the real estate business inside irregular areas is a common practice, which follows the same patterns found in the formal land market. El texto presenta el resultado preliminar de la investigación llevada a cabo por el Laboratorio de Arquitectura y Urbanismo –Laurb– de la Universidad Federal de Paraná –UFPR–, y que tiene como uno de sus objetivos analizar el papel del mercado inmobiliario informal en la estructuración de la aglomeración metropolitana de Curitiba. Primero, son presentadas las diversas fases de la organización del mercado inmobiliario a la luz de la estructuración metropolitana. Más adelante, los usos, legal e ilegal, de la tierra que se articulan con la producción capitalista de la ciudad, con lo que se expone que la lógica de la organización del mercado inmobiliario es responsable del crecimiento de los asentamientos irregulares en la metrópolis. Se concluye que la comercialización de la propiedad en las áreas irregulares se consolida como práctica y sigue el estándar del mercado formal.
