Resumo:Cities expand almost unreceptively day after day; zones considered uninhabitable are occupied, divided, split in plots and subdivided; city growth happens this way, there is no limit for expansion, there is no zone, as dangerous as it could be, as necessary for environmental equilibrium that stops expansion. The purpose of this study is to knowledge the most about the type of urban processes, to accomplish an understanding that allows facing up this reality. This article is the result from a research that analyzes haw this phenomenon takes place, whom is implicated in it and the inconveniency that emerge on the consolidation of expansion zones. By means of the study it has been found certain patterns and exclusive processes to informal urbanization. Despite the fact that the study has covered only Mexican cities, it is possible to verify the results on most Latin-American cities.
