The initial distinction between concepts of “communitarian place” and “public place” help us to show an attempt to approach – undertaken in the speech – the project of the Polycentric City to the concept of “public place”, such as it was defined by Italian Type-Morphology. However, the exposition of the existing similarities between the Neighborhood Unit, of Clarence A. Perry, and the Polycentric City reveals the concept of communitarian place as a concept-key to understand the urban project of Leon Krier. El presente artículo parte del análisis conceptual de los espacios colectivos propuestos por la ciudad policéntrica de Léon Krier. A partir de la distinción inicial entre los conceptos de “espacio comunitario” y “espacio público”, se demuestra el intento de vinculación –emprendido en la esfera del discurso– del proyecto de ciudad policéntrica con el concepto de espacio público, tal como fue incorporado por la tipomorfología italiana. Entre tanto, la explicación de las semejanzas existentes entre la unidad de vecindad, de Clarence A. Perry, y la Ciudad Poliéntrica demuestra justamente lo contrario, y hace evidente el concepto de espacio comunitario como concepto clave para la comprensión del proyecto de ciudad de Léon Krier.
