Description
Résumé:This paper aims to present a brief analysis on the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court regarding the protection of urban wetlands and land. The structure of this study first, gives an overview of some international and national standards that uphold the wetlands and then analyzes the jurisprudence acts of the Colombian Constitutional Court from its earliest decisions on wetlands under the territorial, urban and environmentally protected areas. The article concludes that despite the extensive regulations which enforce special protected areas, the reduction of wetlands, specially in urban areas, is alarming. There is interest from the community and NGOs to prevail continuity of these protected environments, since they are home to numerous flora and fauna, as well as protecting coastal erosion and storm surges.
