Résumé:Under the project Regional Landscape Observa- tory –ORP–, ongoing at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, in Medellín headquarters, this article reports reviewing landscape valuation methodologies applied in various parts of the world. Through a qualitative research with a hermeneutic approach and a documentary technique, a tracking and gathering of information is carried out in specialized databases. Methodologies established by other landscape observatories, academics and administrative entities were identi ed, in regions of the world where landscape management has had greater development. The methodologies were compared in terms. The tracking was mainly focused on the perceptual aspects of landscape in various scales: territory, city or public space. As a conclusion, criteria and variables that allow characterizing a landscape are derived; elements considered fundamental in the purpose of building an own methodology for recognition.
