Summary:In this article reflects on the relationship between the gentrification process and the social construction of the disaster, from the earthquake that occurred on September 19, 2017 in Mexico City. In particular, it is about analyzing how the process of urban renewal in the area of the Condesa, caused certain conditions of socio-environmental vulnerability that, together with the earthquakes, made possible a disaster situation. For which, it makes use of different sources and official data, maps and newspaper notes. The purpose is to provide other clues for the discussion about disasters as a negative socio-environmental consequence of gentrification in this place.
