According to this research it was possible to select a composite with a fibre content of 2,25% by weight of hemihydrate and to use 13 mm long fibre, based on flexural tests and workability criteria. This componets presented 10,5 Mpa of flexural strenght. The components were procuced by volumetric method considered as a low cost method which requires non-skilled workers. Various geometric designs were proposed and panels performance evaluation were on the flexural and pull-out tests. The final panel design presented a 6,4 Mpa of flexural strength. This paper also presents the main results of mechanical and physical tests of GRG precast panel walls. The perfornance evaluation of walls was achieved by means of: resistance to soft body impact, operation of doors, suspension load bearing, resistence to slab deformation, dampeness resistence, sound insulation, tile coating adhesion. Este trabalho relata o desenvolvimento de um painel de gesso reforçado com fibras de vidro (GRG – glass reinforced gypsum), cujos insumos básicos, produzidos pela indústria nacional, foram gesso de construção (hemidrato â natural) e fibra de vidro tipo E. o compósito foi selecionado com base em ensaios de flexão e critérios práticos de trabalhabilidade, resultando em uma mistura com fibras de comprimento de 13 mm e teor de 2,25% (em massa), com resistência à tração na flexão de 10,5 Mpa. Os painéis foram produzidos pelo método da pré-mistura, de baixo custo e de fácil operação, com mistura feita em betoneira. No estudo do painel foram avaliados diversas seções transversais, através de ensaios de suporte de carga suspensa e de flexão, tendo-se selecionando um painel com resistência à tração e de flexão, tendo-se selecionado um painel com resistência à tração na reflexão de 6,4 Mpa. São analisados os resultados dos principais testes efetuados em paredes construídas em campo com painéis de GRG, cujo desempenho foi avaliado por: resistência a impactos de corpo mole, interação com portas – fechamento à deformação de lajes e frente á umidade, isolação de som aéreo e aderência de revestimento cerâmico.
