This is based on two concepts: the idea of Zeitgeist, that corpus of objects and cultural attitudes that must be observed simultaneously; and the idea of a subject in process. Investigating the history of the City and Architecture is, then, making theory, because one cannot do without the other. From this point of view, we try to observe some referents of the process: Time, as raw material; the Interpretation of Sources; the Space-Place and Memory-History Dichotomies; and Social Representations and Imaginaries. To conclude, pointing out that being objective does not imply being neutral in the face of the events of History, because this way you can access the plurality of meanings of Architecture and the City. Hacer investigación en Ciudad y Arquitectura implica situarse en un lugar y un momento, en el espíritu del tiempo de aquello que se quiere investigar. Esto se basa en dos conceptos: la idea de Zeitgeist, ese corpus de objetos y actitudes culturales que deben ser observadas simultáneamente; y la idea de sujeto en proceso. Investigar la historia de la Ciudad y la Arquitectura es, entonces, hacer teoría, porque no se puede hacer la una sin la otra. Desde este punto de vista, se intenta observar algunos referentes del proceso: el Tiempo, como materia prima; la Interpretación de Fuentes; las Dicotomías Espacio-Lugar y Memoria-Historia; y las Representaciones Sociales y los Imaginarios. Para concluir, señalando que ser objetivo no implica ser neutro ante los acontecimientos de la Historia, porque así se puede acceder a la pluralidad de significados de la Arquitectura y la Ciudad. Fazer pesquisa em Cidade e Arquitetura implica colocar-se em um lugar e um momento, no espírito do tempo do que você deseja investigar. Isso se baseia em dois conceitos: a idéia de Zeitgeist, aquele corpus de objetos e atitudes culturais que devem ser observados simultaneamente; e a ideia de um sujeito em processo. Investigar a história da Cidade e da Arquitetura é, portanto, fazer teoria, porque um não pode prescindir do outro. Sob esse ponto de vista, procuramos observar alguns referentes do processo: Tempo, como matéria-prima; a Interpretação de Fontes; as Dicotomias Espaço-Lugar e História-Memória; e Representações Sociais e Imaginários. Concluindo, ressaltar que ser objetivo não implica ser neutro diante dos acontecimentos da História, pois dessa forma é possível acessar a pluralidade de significados da Arquitetura e da Cidade.
