| Riassunto: | In general, borders are understood as limits and divisions with marked physical and cultural differentiations, as is the case of geographical borders between two countries with drastically different conditions like Mexico and the United States, such that the need to erect walls to separate them is proposed. For this reason, the question of what practices and imaginaries are present in residents regarding their situation in the border and the idea of urban fracture is relevant. Thus, this research proposes the analysis of the imaginary regarding the border as a place that can unite or separate. The methodological approach is based on interviews, surveys, analysis of media records of integration activities, and photographic records in media outlets. The results present that the imaginary present along the border between Ciudad Juarez (Mexico) and El Paso (United States) allows the physical and virtual expressions of residents and tends to fade limits, which converts the border zone into a consolidated natural and artificial public space, conducive to the manifestation of a shared identity. |
