Summary:In order to mitigate the impact caused by the loss of home due to the constant natural events that take place, this proposal gives a proper building system design that allows temporary housing for the affected. In this regard, there was a number of environmental simulations with digital media technology, which gave insights on the thermal performance of the material previously selected according to Life Cycle Assesment (LCA) guidelines, regarding building components such as the foundations, structure, envelope and roof, in tropical weather. The simulations were applied in the cities of Bogota and Girardot. Likewise, there is an exploration of the relation between the materials with four different design configurations and seven types of ventilation, in order to obtain a multidimensional and sustainable answer. Findings show that materials such as guadua, vegetable fibers, and sinthetic fibers, joint with isolation strategies and ventilation configurations, could contribute to thermal comfort in the temporary housing design within the Colombian context.
