Sumario:During the XX century, cinema was consolidated as a significant cultural manifestation that transformed the daily life of the inhabitants of the capital and it contributed with the development from its infrastructure to the configuration of a new city. The center of Bogotá harbored a representative sample of these buildings, examples around of the history of this sector as cultural pole and amusement space. This article is a reflection about the architecture developed for this activity since the analysis of some representative buildings that show the consolidation process, development, crisis and rebirth of the system of cinema exhibition. It concludes that the quantity, variety and aesthetics wealth of built theaters deserve to be preserved as memory of the urban and social processes that our city has lived.
