The railroad represents one of the elements most structuring important in the city, not only for its effect on the growth and the urban layout, but also for the transformations that it generates in the relationships among the sectors in Development of the city. This way it constitutes a manifestation of the modernization of Bogotá that consolidated the form of the growth of the city and of their urban tensions, contributing to the transformation of the morphological, social and space structure, with direct incidence in the cultural, technological and ideological aspects of the inhabitants. Hacia finales del siglo XIX e inicios del siglo XX Bogotá iniciaba un cambio en su estructura morfológica y social a causa de la aparición de las primeras manifestaciones de elementos tecnológicos y mecanismos propios del progreso de Europa Occidental, transformando así los conceptos e ideologías de los habitantes urbanos. El ferrocarril representa uno de los elementos estructurantes más importantes en la ciudad, no solamente por su efecto sobre el crecimiento y el trazado urbano, sino también por las transformaciones que genera en las relaciones entre los sectores en desarrollo de la ciudad. De esta manera constituye una manifestación de la modernización de Bogotá, que consolidó la forma del crecimiento de la ciudad y de sus tensiones urbanas, contribuyendo a la transformación de la estructura morfológica, social y espacial, con incidencia directa en el campo cultural, tecnológico e ideológico de sus gentes.
