Historical texts about the development of our modern architecture and texts referred to the period of the German Reconstruction in the years of the republic of Weimar and the Bauhaus were consulted. The conclusion offers an initial concern with regard to the formation of a theoretical discourse that aims to the formulation of a modern Latin American tropical architecture. Este trabajo de tesis se realizó con el objetivo de puntualizar el origen de las ideas que dieron forma a la Ciudad Universitaria de Bogotá, para demostrar que lo que se ha considerado ser el origen de la arquitectura moderna de Colombia es un proyecto foráneo, sin relación con la situación de lugar representado por el tiempo y las particularidades sociales de la ciudad que lo alberga. Se abordaron textos históricos acerca del desarrollo de nuestra arquitectura moderna y textos referidos al período de la reconstrucción alemana en los años de la República de Weimar y el Bauhaus. Se concluye con este estudio una inicial preocupación con respecto a la formación de un cuerpo teórico que apunta a la formulación de una arquitectura moderna latinoamericana y tropical.
