By means of this approach to the festive topic, as theoretical content and as expression of the diverse socio-cultural manifestations that today circulates under the speech of folk festivities or shows, the facts that evidence the necessity of its study settle down on the reconstruction of its complexity and of their elements so much physical as mental present in a socio – temporal space, next to the city idea in the intention of building it as discussion scenario and project of socio-spatial imaginary that harbors the fact of the urbanization as long as historical configuration, of the dignity and of coming from the current individuals and futures and that it represents a challenge for the individual and collective creativity in terms of its space quality and container of the life; and in the correlation of these two variables, by means of the interdisciplinary strategic unfolding, in the construction of the concept of nation. En el estudio de la cultura de una época, se encuentran la fiesta imaginada como una construcción social simbólica y entendida como contenido y la ciudad como contenedor. Por este motivo, se describe la participación de estas dos instancias en la reconstrucción del fenómeno fiesta-ciudad. Esta investigación se propone realizar una categorización sistemática de la fiesta que nos permita visualizar las transformaciones más significativas de “la fiesta de aniversario de la ciudad de Bogotá” entre 1930 y 1960. Por ello correspondió a este estudio hacer una descripción secuencial de los programas y actos de la celebración por tratarse de los cambios, mutaciones, permanencias y rupturas de un único tipo de fiesta. La relevancia de este estudio surge desde la historia social y de las mentalidades colectivas, en la que se analizan las representaciones sociales, pasando por las prácticas, las actitudes, los valores, las creencias y los comportamientos colectivos. Para el período estudiado, en la fiesta de la ciudad no hay regocijos religiosos o sagrados, todos son profanos, pero conservando una tradición hispanista, se inician con la misa, como sucedía en las carnestolendas en el siglo XVIII donde “la fiesta comenzaba con la misa en la iglesia para luego esparcirse y dar inicio al carnaval”. La fiesta de aniversario de la ciudad de Bogotá es un tipo de fiesta cívica y dentro de ella encontramos varias formas de festejos. Bogotá necesita de una fiesta que transforme la cotidianidad, por ello se busca una fiesta de nuevo tipo en la ciudad con actos y puestas en escena que se enriquecen en la diversidad cultural.
