Important changes have been made in the favelas with the help of the Police Peace Units (PPUs) related to security and major mobility construction works. This new environment has had a strong influence on a new process associated with the development of tourism in these areas. It is an activity widely used to increase cities' income and it is evident that tourism in the favelas follows a similar process to what happens in traditional tourist cities, such as thematization and scenarization based on models existing in other well-known, traditional tourist areas. |

A partir de la necesidad de cambiar la imagen de la ciudad, vinculado a la realización de los principales eventos deportivos de la ciudad de Río de Janeiro, en especial el Mundial de Fútbol en 2014 y los Juegos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos de 2016, las nuevas políticas públicas relativas a la seguridad y las obras de movilidad se han implementado. Se resaltan los cambios en las favelas, con las Unidades de Policía Pacificadora (UPPs) vinculadas a la seguridad y a las grandes obras de la movilidad. Esta nueva situación ha tenido una fuerte influencia en un nuevo proceso relacionado con el desarrollo del turismo en estas favelas. Esta es una actividad muy utilizada para aumentar la renta en ciudades, y se evidencia que el turismo en favelas tiene un comportamiento muy similar a lo que ocurre en las ciudades turísticas tradicionales, tales como el proceso de tematización y puesta en escena que ha ocurrido, siguiendo los modelos existentes en otras áreas tradicionales vinculadas al turismo. A partir da necessidade de mudar a imagem da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, ligada à realização de grandes eventos esportivos nela, em especial a Copa do Mundo de Futebol em 2014 e os Jogos Olímpicos e Paraolímpicos de 2016, novas políticas públicas relacionadas à segurança e a obras de mobilidade vêm sendo implantadas. Cabe ressaltar que as mudanças nas favelas, com as Unidades de Política Pacificadora (UPPs), são associadas a essas políticas públicas. Essa nova situação vem tendo forte influência em um novo processo ligado ao desenvolvimento nessas favelas: o turismo. Trata-se de atividade bastante utilizada para a geração de renda nas cidades, e a forma como esse turismo se desenvolve em favelas segue de maneira similar o processo de tematização e cenarização que vem ocorrendo nas cidades turísticas tradicionais.
