Starting from the study of related investigations, a state of the art that contributes to the reflection and the assesment of the objects of the material coffee culture is established, recognizing the productive activity of the coffee as a current economy, around it the life of people in the territory of the cultural coffee landscape has been developed. That is why, being the objects simbols of the culture, its study allows to tell the advance of the technique and at the same time of the society that produces it, so its analysis makes possible to determine the needs and the opportunities that from the industrial design can be responded, and also to take advantage of this in order to favour the sustainability not only of the coffee industry but also of its culture. A partir de la revisión de las investigaciones relacionadas se establece un estado del arte que contribuye a la reflexión y la valoración de los objetos de la cultura material cafetera, reconociendo la actividad productiva del café como una economía vigente, desde la cual se ha desarrollado la vida de las personas del Paisaje Cultural Cafetero. Siendo los objetos símbolos de la cultura, su estudio permite dar cuenta del avance de la técnica y al mismo tiempo de la sociedad que los gesta, además hace posible determinar las necesidades y las oportunidades que tiene el diseño industrial para responder y aprovechar de una manera innovadora favoreciendo la sostenibilidad no sólo de la industria cafetera sino también de su cultura.
